ACSCU Profile

The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) was established in 1946 under the guidance of the Almighty God.  It recognizes and commits itself to the sacred task of providing quality Christian education and promoting among its members a sense of unity, understanding and fellowship for better service to the community.  The members bind themselves together with the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.

The members are non-stock, non-profit schools or institutions which are affiliated with Christian churches or denominations. Each includes the teaching of the Holy Bible as part of its curricula, particularly teaching that Jesus Christ is the only Incarnate Son of God.  All revenues and grants received are utilized for educational services to the member schools.

There are twelve (12) denominations represented in ACSCU, namely:

ACSCU sees itself asA community of Christian schools transforming learners into leaders of a  just and humane society” and commits itself “to integrate Christian spirituality with academic excellence.”

At the heart of ACSCU is the desire to respond to the needs of its member schools through a wide range of services that promote exemplary and relevant Christian education.

ACSCU serves as the center of cooperative and unified effort of Christian schools in the Philippines.  The association works together with cooperating mission boards, agencies and other bodies interested in Christian schools and education in the Philippines.

ACSCU acts as the medium by which the common objectives, ideals and desires of Christian schools are identified, defined and expressed.  It seeks to define what ought to be.  It acts as a vehicle for training students, leaders, teachers, staff and administrators.  It serves as a forum among its stakeholders in sharing information, experiences, insights and visions in order to improve the quality of life of the Filipino people by way of building national competence, national consciousness, and national conscience.

ACSCU is committed to build national competence (excellence in knowledge, skills, leadership, followership); to build national consciousness (excellence in patriotism, sacrificial love of family, community and country); and to build national conscience (excellence in discerning what is right and wrong and choosing to do what is right, service to others, stewardship of God’s creation, character building, faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to His commands).

The member schools propagate Christian communities where science and faith are integrated with ordinary life.  It also evolves a culture characterized by special concerns for the poor and commitment for scholarship.

ACSCU pools the resources of its members and collaborates with other professional and funding institutions both here and abroad.  They cooperate in order to provide exemplary Christian education aligned with the government’s regional, national, and global development plans.

ACSCU is committed to enable its member schools to work more effectively with the Department of Education (DepED), the Commission on Higher education (CHED), the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), other government regulatory agencies, the Private Education Assistance Council (PEAC), the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE), the Private Education Retirement and Annuity Association (PERAA), and the Philippine House of Representatives and Senate.  It advocates and formulates action papers and resolutions addressing current educational issues.

ACSCU cooperates with educational accrediting agencies under the umbrella of the Federation of Accrediting Agencies in the Philippines (FAAP) in order to raise the quality and excellence, the relevance and responsiveness, and the efficiency and effectiveness of its member schools.

ACSCU is a founding member of the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA).  It cooperates with COCOPEA member associations, namely: the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU), the Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAPSCU), and the Technical Vocational School Associations of the Philippines (TVSA).

ACSCU is still a growing association.  At present it consists of one hundred twenty-nine (129) member schools spread over all the sixteen (16) regions of the country:  seven (7) universities, seven (7) seminaries,  thirty-nine (39) colleges, and Seventy-six (76) basic education schools.
